We can DO MORE With Corporation and Foundation Partners

Doing more with the support of corporation and foundation partners is essential to catapult TXST to the NEXT level to increase the number of our Ph.D. graduates and post-docs, and student success.
In our Run to R1, to achieve the designation as a national research university, we are elevating the partnership model at TXST by building industry and foundation relationships for the mutual benefit of both organizations to change the world.

Texas State’s Run to R1 research capabilities and education are closing the gap between academia and industry to provide students with specialized knowledge to meet 21st-century industry demands.

We can help your organization convert ideas into fundable projects/programs for private, family, and corporate foundations.

New Degree Programs in Response to Industry Demand

We choose the direction of degree programs based on Texas Workforce data and input from our industry partners and advisors. We are constantly adding new degree programs, tailored specifically to meet workforce demand.

Leading in Civil Engineering

Since, 2018, our civil engineering undergraduate and graduate programs are one of very few in the nation with a holistic emphasis on the application of technology to the life-cycle management of infrastructure assets. We call it “Technology-enhanced Infrastructure (TEI),” because not all technology is “Smart” but technology can make infrastructure better. Industry, both within and outside of Texas, has told us that this is the direction civil engineering must take in the future.

Research to Commercial Success

The Materials Science, Engineering, and Commercialization (MSEC) doctoral program combines STEM research and training with entrepreneurship to help students create groundbreaking, commercially viable products.

Since 2014, the MSEC program has helped launch five interdisciplinary student-led companies, which include MBA students from the McCoy College of Business Administration, and MFA students from the College of Fine Arts and Communication.

Ph.D. in Applied Anthropology

The global economy has created a tremendous need for research-based information and pragmatic uses of anthropological knowledge and skills.

Texas State University offers an innovative new Ph.D. in Applied Anthropology. The program—focusing on practical applications for anthropology in non-academic settings—is one of the first of its kind in the state of Texas and one of only three such programs in the nation.

The program is strengthened by the expertise of faculty whose teaching and scholarly activities are focused in forensic anthropology (biological anthropology) and cultural resource management (archaeology), and by two applied anthropology research centers: the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State (FACTS) and the Center for Archaeological Studies (CAS)
