Step Up for State FAQ

These FAQs are referencing Step Up For State 2022.

What is Step Up for State?

Step Up for State is Texas State’s annual “days of giving” campaign. For 1,899 minutes, this program offers alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends the opportunity to come together and support the university. Individuals will have the opportunity to support and choose from mission-critical projects from across campus. Our goal is to have the highest number of gifts ever during this time frame.

How can I be a part of Step Up for State?

There are three ways you can be a part of Step Up for State.

  1. Join the discussion by following TXST Alumni on Facebook and Twitter.
  2. Help share the Step Up for State story using the hashtag #StepUpforState or #ISteppedUp and encourage your network to be a part of Step Up for State.
  3. Make an online gift on October 4-5, 2023 to any of the projects available during Step Up for State.
  4. Sign up to be an ambassador.

Why should I give?

Texas State University is forging the future – in enrollment, size, and prestige. Our university’s continued excellence is reliant on the generosity of alumni, faculty, parents, students, staff, and friends. Every gift, no matter how large, helps Texas State provide unparalleled educational opportunities for our next generation.

Minimum gift size? What ways can you give? (Online, phone, mail)

There is no minimum gift size.

In order to be counted as part of Step Up for State, donors should give online via credit/debit card on Oct. 4 & 5. If a donor wishes to give via check and wants to be counted as a Step Up participant, their gift must be received in Advancement Services (JCK 480) by October 5 and it should indicate that it is for Step Up.

Can I make a pledge and pay by the end of the FY?

Yes. Please contact the University Advancement Development Office at 512.245.2396.

How do I decide where to give? What projects can I give to? Can I give to multiple projects?

There are many projects to support from all across campus during Step Up for State. The decision is yours. You can choose to give to a particular school, program, or even a scholarship fund. If you want Texas State to use your gift to support the university’s greatest need, simply select the “Maroon & Gold Annual Fund” as your designation. You can also give to multiple projects throughout Step Up For State.

Can I give to a project not listed on the Step Up page?

Yes. While we encourage support of our featured projects, any gifts given on Oct. 4-5, 2023 will count towards Step Up for State totals.

Who can answer questions about a particular project?

Please forward questions to the Office of Annual Giving.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. 100 percent of your donation is a tax-deductible gift to the university. You will receive a receipt to confirm your gift for tax purposes.

Is it safe to make my gift online?

Yes. The information collected during the giving event is only used by Texas State University. Information will not be sold or shared with any third-party organizations. To read more, please visit our University Policy and Procedure Statements.

Can I donate anonymously?

Yes. If you choose to give anonymously, your name will not be publicized on the Step Up for State supporters list.

As a member of the Faculty or Staff, will my donation count towards StepUpForState?

Yes. If you are a member of the faculty or staff, your donation will be counted toward the 2023 Step Up For State Campaign.

Besides giving, how can I help the day be a success?

To help make Step Up for State a success, we need your help to promote the event to your individual network. You can do this by emailing your family, friends, and fellow alumni or by promoting the event via social media. Sign up to be an ambassador.
