In addition to President Lyndon B. Johnson, luminaries include Ponce "Heloise" Cruse ('74), who writes the popular "Heloise to the Rescue" Good Housekeeping monthly column and has written 11 books, hosted a national radio show, and is a nationally known speaker; the Country Music Hall of Famer, George Strait ('79), who has had more Number One hits of any singer of any kind of music in history; and star of stage, screen, and television Powers Booth ('70), who was inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame in 2009.
Distinguished Alumni Award
The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes alumni who have achieved prominence and made a significant impact on the lives of others through their profession, accomplishments, affiliations, and service to the society and the University.
Young Alumni Rising Star
The Young Alumni Rising Star Award honors alumni under the age of 40 who demonstrate a level of excellence which positively represents the University, and serves to inspire all Bobcat, to excel in their work and recognize the important impact of their experience as a student at Texas State.
