Pride in Action
Support for our Pride in Action campaign comes from multiple directions. Some recent examples:
The Touchdown Team that supports the Bobcat football team received an anonymous gift of $25,000.
Mike and Dianne Bowman of Houston contributed $25,000 to the musical theatre program. These two 1978 alumni, now parents of two graduated Bobcats, are generous supporters of the athletics program also. Mike Bowman, president of Hunt & Hunt, is part of the Athletics Pillar of the Pride in Action campaign.
Former Regent Ed Longcope and his wife Bonnie recently gave $10,000 to athletics and $25,000 to agriculture. This alumni couple from San Marcos have been generous in their support of athletics, fine arts and the library, and Bonnie Longcope is helping with the Performing Arts Center Pillar of the campaign.
The PSH Foundation of Wimberley has recently contributed $50,000 to musical theatre and $100,000 to endowed scholarships in education. Founder Patti Harrison chairs the campaign’s Performing Arts Center Pillar.
Col. James Funkhouser and his wife Margaret of Livingston gave $10,000 to the Capt. Alex Funkhouser Memorial Scholarship, which pays tribute to their son, a member of the class of 1999 who was killed in action in Iraq in 2006.
John McCall ’70 of Spicewood, former executive of Armstrong-McCall professional beauty products supplier, has given $100,000 to the McCoy College of Business Administration.
Ed Wendler ’53, retired owner of Wendler Marine Services of Houston, contributed $50,000 to his Johnston-Wendler Scholarship in the College of Education.
Edward Harte and William Harte of San Antonio and the Harte Family Foundation have given the Rivers Systems Institute $150,000.
