100 Lyndon B. Johnson Centenial Celebration - Celebrating his can-do spirit logoHappy birthday, LBJ!
We will kick off our yearlong celebration of the LBJ Centennial on Saturday, Aug. 23, when Lyndon Nugent, LBJ’s grandson and Texas State alumnus, gives the featured address at the New Student Convocation in Strahan Coliseum at 5:30 p.m.

The celebration of Texas State’s most illustrious graduate will be the focus of the campus’ Common Experience for the year, with the theme “Civic Responsibility and the Legacy of LBJ.” Texas State is a partner with the LBJ Library and Museum, the LBJ state and national parks, the LBJ Foundation, the LBJ School of Public Affairs, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the LBJ Museum of San Marcos for the celebration.

We have already scheduled Andrew Young for Oct. 21, an exhibition of LBJ White House photographs Aug. 18-Sept. 26, Pulitzer Prize-winner Nick Kotz Sept. 9, LBJ book author John Bullion Oct. 13, a special performance of The Dead Presidents’ Club Nov. 5-9 and much more. For the latest details, visit the Common Experience calendar.

Oral history exhibit a must-see
Stories about LBJ from the people whose paths crossed his in various ways will be the focus of an oral history exhibit that opens Sunday, Aug. 24, at the LBJ Museum of San Marcos. The exhibit will remain on display through the academic year. The recording and transcription of the 50 histories is a joint project of the museum and Texas State, funded by a generous grant from Texas Humanities. The museum is located across from the courthouse on the San Marcos town square and is open Thursday, Friday and Sunday 1-5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. more...
