Bequest

A bequest to Texas State University is made through your will and can provide significant tax savings for your estate. You may give cash, securities (stock), real property and personal property. We strongly recommend that you consult an attorney to prepare your will and to supervise its execution in order to comply with all the requirements of the laws in your state.

It is helpful to make us aware that we are being named in your will. This way you can be sure that your bequest will be executed in the manner you intended, and if you desire, we will be able to recognize your gift during your lifetime. Furthermore, public recognition of your generosity can inspire others to consider making a gift.

Sample Wording: I hereby give, devise, and bequeath the sum of $_____________ (or _____ percent of my residual estate) in cash, securities or other property to the Texas State University-San Marcos Development Foundation.
