Pride in Action Campaign

In the years since the university's first university fundraising campaign in the late 1990's, many significant things have happened at Texas State University-San Marcos, including an institutional name change and a new president. These changes, combined with other university-wide initiatives — particularly the growth and development of the Round Rock Higher Education Center and the commitment to help Texas State become a Hispanic Serving Institution — bring a strong focus on the need to increase fundraising at all levels.

Texas State University-San Marcos is recognized as the "Rising Star of Texas" not only across the state of Texas but the nation as well. This increasing esteem was exhibited by its being selected by The Princeton Review as one of the Best Western Colleges for 2008 (Click here to read the press release) and by once again being selected by  U. S. News and World Report  as one of America's Best Colleges in 2008.  (Click here to read the press release.)   But, in order to continue on this path, Texas State must upgrade existing facilities and build new ones that will maintain and strengthen the learning environment and provide students and faculty with the tools needed  to achieve their potential.

Volunteer precampaign task forces are exploring the potential of a new major fundraising endeavor.  President Denise Trauth has said, "A pride in action campaign is really about more than money.  It's about sharing a vision for the university and a belief that we can fulfill that vision.  People don't give to institutions because they need the money.  We give because we believe in the institution and believe that our gift can make a difference to the success of that organization."
